About The Position

NEP Virtual Studios combines Prysm Stages, Lux Machina, and Halon Entertainment under one banner to provide best-in-class virtual production services around the world. Lux Machina and Prysm stages design, build, and operate state of the art Virtual Production facilities while Halon Entertainment provides Game cinematic creation, visualization, and virtual art department services from concept to final pixel. 

Halon Entertainment is the premier visualization company with credits on some of Hollywood’s most celebrated films. We are seeking talented and enthusiastic Unreal Engine Artists for exciting, high profile feature film, television, commercial, and video game cinematic projects. This is a remote-work opportunity. 

Job Summary: 

The Houdini Developer, or Houdini Technical Artist in the Engineering Department is responsible for coordinating with project teams to create, maintain, and document useable procedural asset building tools for use in Unreal Engine via Houdini Engine on a range of projects from stylized to photoreal. They’ll also be responsible for architecting, designing, implementing, and troubleshooting custom made Houdini solutions that will work with other DCCs, especially Unreal Engine, and will be used by Halon and other studios. 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Architecture, design and maintain technical solutions for Houdini and Unreal Engine for Realtime and finals. 
  • Identify points of improvement in our current pipeline and suggest changes. 
  • Lead the charge on researching and developing Houdini procedural solutions 
  • Document tools and processes as they are built 
  • Work with a team of artists and engineers to achieve common goals 


  • 4+ years of games industry or entertainment industry experience or an extraordinary demo reel with source code samples. 
  • Expert Python, and the Hou Module, knowledge 
  • Expert C and VEX knowledge 
  • Experience creating procedural solutions for asset building, rigging, animation and or other real-time topics. 
  • Experience with GUI programming 
  • Experience with OOP. 
  • Experience with tool development. 
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills. 
  • An understanding of the material editor in Unreal Engine, as well as an understanding of new features coming in UE5 
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members 
  • Willingness to accept direction, works well under pressure on multiple tasks, and flexible to changes 
  • Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills 
  • Must have reasonable internet speed at home and be able to remote in from a personal PC to a company-owned PC 
  • A passion for film, television, and games 
  • (Bonus) Understanding of rigging, skinning and animation topics
